About

I have always known that art is a piece of me, but unless I was making something for someone else, I would only make time for art when it was convenient or when I wasn’t absolutely exhausted.

My art has been very personal and I have often been fearful to share my work. Over the last couple of years, I have started to share my work with others and am beginning to accept and believe it when people call me an artist.

Most of my work has been about personal experiences and seeking to convey emotions, psychology and themes of the human condition. I keep my palette and images simple, working. quickly and physically. I use a method of wiping on and off while I am working, effectively chasing the image. It is something of a performance where I am in the moment. When the performance is done, the piece is done. I am rarely able to continue working on the same piece.

The last couple of years have really stirred me and I have been more productive than ever. The world has been tipped on its axis and I feel there are a lot of new conversations I would like to explore, including contemporary social and environmental conditions.

I am currently working on a series about dreams. The pandemic has caused much anxiety and nightmares for many. I began working with the idea of spirits to watch over and protect my dreams. I think the pieces are also reflective of my fears of the changing landscape and the inevitable loss of Earth’s creatures.

Welcome to Pieces of Me.
